After retiring from the DEA 19 months ago, God called my wife and I into full-time recovery ministry. Since then, we’ve driven over 40,000 miles through Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Texas, and Indiana.
We’ve held 17 Recovery Revivals. We’ve spoken at tent revivals, recovery fairs, graduations, retreats, and conferences. And in 19 months, we’ve watched 260 men and women surrender their lives to Jesus Christ! We’ve helped 17 men and women in addiction enter long-term, faith-based recovery in 19 months.
We minister to families walking alongside loved ones in addiction, or who have lost loved ones in addiction. Shackle Free Ministries is partnering with Richard and Debbie McGrew, Directors of Families in Addiction, and together we hosted our first “Weathering the Storm,” Families in Addiction Retreat at no cost to families on May 1-3, 2026, in Hot Springs, AR, and saw Jesus heal, restore, and provide HOPE (Hearing Other People’s Experiences).
We also are hosting “Rest & Revive” Retreats at no cost for our leaders in recovery. Our first conference is scheduled for September 17-19, 2026, in Branson, MO. Our prayer is our leaders leave rested, revived, uplifted, and encouraged.
Shackle Free Ministries believes in alternative sentencing for non-violent drug offenders. We’ve helped 4 men facing lengthy prison sentences receive court-ordered placement into faith-based recovery instead of prison. We are currently working with several prosecutors, defense attorney’s, directors, and pastors helping other men, women, and families, who we believe Jesus will provide favor and blessing with the courts, so they can maintain their sobriety in faith-based recovery, instead of prison.

For the last 23 years, Jarad and Kelly have been involved in connections ministry and evangelistic ministry. In December of 2021, Jarad started going to a local halfway house in Conway, Arkansas, where he began picking up men and transporting them to church with him on Sunday’s and Wednesday’s. Jarad saw first-hand Jesus radically transforming the lives of men in recovery. Jarad saw men who were once bound by several years of heroin and meth addiction give their hearts and lives to Jesus and
completely set free.
